Water Vole, August 2014

Based in south east England, my main subject of photography is nature.

My pictures are taken around England, including some of my favourite Wildlife Trust reserves.

Nature photography is a fusion of two of my passions and I make the most of any window of time I can to escape with my kit into the outdoors. I juggle this passion for nature photography with a full time administration job in a very urban environment.

I find macro photography both addictive and meditative. Although much patience is required the rewards are well worth the waiting, like stepping into a new world and going on a mini safari. I don’t always have to travel far to find this wonderful world - it can be just outside my back door. I have my preferred dragonfly and damselfly sites around the North Essex coast and I make an annual visit elsewhere in search of the stunning Banded Demoiselles - my personal favourite of the damselflies and maybe the most challenging.

Image manipulation is kept to a minimum as I enjoy capturing the natural world as nature intended. Waiting for the best direction of light with a little help of assorted reflectors when necessary is my preferred method. I use few filters in the field, mainly a circular polariser and ND grad when needed.

I hope you enjoy my images as much as I enjoyed creating them.
